Anthony Steven Evers (born November 5, 1951) is an American educator and politician who serves as the 46th governor of Wisconsin since 2019.
Evers was born in Plymouth, Wisconsin, and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in education.
He taught social studies at Madison West High School for 33 years before entering politics.
Evers' Political Career
Evers was elected State Superintendent of Public Instruction in 2009 and served in that role until 2019.
In 2018, he was elected governor of Wisconsin, defeating incumbent Republican Scott Walker.
Evers was re-elected to a second term in 2022, defeating Republican challenger Tim Michels.
Evers' Policy Priorities
Evers' policy priorities include increasing funding for education, expanding access to healthcare, and protecting the environment.
