Chinese Premier Li Keqiang to Visit Saudi Arabia and UAE, Attend High-Level Joint Committee Meeting

China Strengthens Ties with Middle East

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang is scheduled to visit Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from January 10-14, 2023. During his visit, Premier Li will attend the seventh meeting of the China-Saudi Arabia High-Level Joint Committee and hold talks with Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

The High-Level Joint Committee is a key platform for China and Saudi Arabia to enhance cooperation in various fields, including trade, energy, and infrastructure. This meeting is expected to further strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

Expanding Cooperation with the UAE

Premier Li will also visit the UAE, where he will meet with UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The visit aims to deepen bilateral ties and explore new areas of cooperation between China and the UAE.

China and the UAE have a strong economic relationship, with the UAE being China's largest trading partner in the Middle East. The two countries are also working together on infrastructure projects within the framework of China's Belt and Road Initiative.

China's Growing Role in the Middle East

Premier Li's visit to Saudi Arabia and the UAE reflects China's increasing engagement with the Middle East region. In recent years, China has been actively strengthening its economic and political ties with Middle Eastern countries.

This engagement is driven by China's growing energy needs and its desire to expand its global influence. China is also seeking to play a more active role in regional security issues.

Strengthening Regional Cooperation

Premier Li's visit is expected to contribute to regional stability and cooperation. China has consistently called for peaceful resolution of conflicts and respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries in the Middle East.

By engaging with Saudi Arabia and the UAE, China hopes to promote dialogue and understanding among regional actors and contribute to the development of a more stable and prosperous Middle East.
